Hi everyone,

This is my first post… We are now in Kalbarri about 500 k north of Perth. I thought a few snapshots of our trip so far will tell our story.

A coach ride in Longreach..exciting for me because I was up front with the driver, particularly when the horses galloped at 40k/hr!

Plenty of these on the road. This one actually dislodged the mirror on the car as it passed, which has happened several times since but they haven’t caused the problems I had envisaged they would.

There’s more to out on the road than just driving.

This has been one of the highlights.   The park we elected to stay in Mataranka which is south of Katherine is a 500 metre walk to the thermal pool – about 34 degrees.  The pool is in a natural bushland setting and we hired a noodle for $1 each and there is enough current to just let the noodle keep you afloat and drift to the end of the pool – you really are way out in the bush sailing down the Little Roper River – very relaxing

Anything to be cool here.  Each day has been in the high 30’s.  When we were walking at Katherine Gorge it was 40 degrees.

We took day trip in a  fixed wing aircraft over the Bungle Bungles and then a 3k walk into Cathedral Gorge for lunch before flying back over the Argyle Diamond mine to Kununurra

From Derby another full day tour.  This time in a seaplane to Horizontal Falls where they take you through the falls in a high speed boat.  Up to this date this was the highlight of the trip for me.

We spent a week in Broome in a park opposite Cable beach.  So plenty of beach walks there.  Yes the car did actually get on sand!

A challenging walk in Cape Range National Park (near Exmouth)  I felt I earned the wine and nibblies after this walk.

We were the first at this free camp but by nightfall there were at least 20 other vans.

Sunset from our camp site in Denham.  From here we went to Monkey Mia to see the dolphin feeding but for us the turtles swimming under the jetty were much more interesting. Neither of us had seen turtles in their natural environment before.

And of course I have told you all about our quad bike riding.  I am still excited about that!!
